1. Introduction & Agreement to Terms

Welcome to MilkyWay Market! By accessing or using our website, API, browser addon, or any related services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms").

MilkyWay Market is a personal project operated by Matheus Costa, an individual based in Brazil. This isn't a big corporation—it's a community tool built by one person who loves the game.

2. Service Description

MilkyWay Market is an independent, community-built tool for tracking market data in Milky Way Idle.

Important:

This service is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to the developers of Milky Way Idle
All game content, icons, images, item names, and game data belong to the original creators of Milky Way Idle and are used with their permission
We simply collect and display publicly available market data to help the community

3. Open Source Code & Proprietary Data

This distinction is critical—please read carefully.

You are free to view, fork, modify, and use the code under the terms of the MIT License. We believe in open source and want others to learn from and build upon this work.

Market Data: Proprietary (All Rights Reserved)

However, the data is a different story.

The following are proprietary and NOT covered by the MIT License:

Historical market data and price history
Aggregated datasets and statistics
Materialized views and computed metrics
Database contents and structured data exports
Any data collected, processed, or derived by the Service

All rights to this data are reserved. You may not copy, redistribute, sell, or use this data for commercial purposes without explicit written permission.

In short: The code is free. The data is not.

4. Acceptable Use

When using MilkyWay Market, we expect you to:

Use the Service for its intended purpose—tracking market data and enhancing your gameplay experience
Maintain respectful interactions with other community members
Keep your account credentials secure and confidential
Respect intellectual property rights of both this project and Milky Way Idle

5. Prohibited Activities

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

Data Harvesting & Extraction

Systematic scraping, bulk downloading, or automated collection of market or historical data
Using bots, crawlers, spiders, or automated tools to extract data beyond normal personal use
Redistributing, reselling, or republishing historical or aggregated market data
Building competing services or products using data obtained from MilkyWay Market

Security & Infrastructure

Attempting to access the database directly or circumvent access controls
Exploiting vulnerabilities, attacking, or attempting to compromise our infrastructure
Interfering with the proper functioning of the Service

Account & Community Abuse

Impersonation or creating fraudulent accounts
Interfering with other users' access to or enjoyment of the Service
Abusing the game data sync feature through excessive or automated syncs
Using the Service for any illegal activities

Intellectual Property

Claiming ownership of Milky Way Idle content, trademarks, or assets
Misrepresenting your affiliation with this project or the game developers

6. API & Data Access

API endpoints are intended for the MilkyWay Market frontend and official integrations unless explicitly documented as public
Undocumented API endpoints may change, break, or be removed without notice
We reserve the right to rate-limit, block, or restrict access for any usage patterns we deem abusive or excessive
Normal website browsing and use of official features is always permitted

7. User Accounts

You must be 13 years of age or older to create an account or use authenticated features (this aligns with Discord's minimum age requirement and COPPA)
One account per person—no alts or shared accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms

8. User Content & Data

You retain ownership of your personal data and any character data you sync
By using the Service, you grant us a license to use your data solely to provide and improve the Service
We may use anonymized, aggregated data for analytics and service improvement
Game data you sync is used only to provide you with the Service's features—we don't sell your personal information

9. Advertising

Advertisements are delivered via NitroAds/NitroPay to help keep the Service free for everyone
Premium features may be introduced in the future, but core functionality will remain free
Ad blockers may affect how ads display; we'd appreciate if you whitelist us, but we understand if you don't

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

Specifically:

Market data is collected at approximately 1-hour intervals and may not reflect the real-time state of the game's marketplace
We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any data—always verify important information in-game
We do not guarantee uptime, availability, or uninterrupted access to the Service
Features may change, be added, or be removed at any time

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

MilkyWay Market and its operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
This includes but is not limited to: loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses
Our total liability for any claims arising from your use of the Service is limited to the amount you have paid us (if any) in the 12 months preceding the claim

12. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes:

We will update the "Last updated" date at the top
We may notify users through the Service or other reasonable means

Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Brazil, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts of Brazil.

14. Termination

By You

You can delete your account at any time through the Service. When you do, all your data is immediately and permanently removed (cascade delete). We don't keep backups of deleted user data.

By Us

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, for any reason, including but not limited to violation of these Terms.

Survival

The following sections survive termination: Disclaimers, Limitation of Liability, Governing Law, and the data restrictions in Section 3 and Section 5.
